Apple & Mixed Spice Donuts
The boys got a donut maker as a gift last year. This is a recipe from it and the donuts are tasty.
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. mixed spice (clove, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie spice)
9 Tbsp. melted butter
1/2 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup canned milk
1 egg lightly beaten
Preheat donut machine. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make a well in the center. Whisk in the butter, apple, milk, and egg until mixture forms a smooth batter. Transfer to a plastic bag and cut a small hole in the corner to pipe out the mix into the donut machine.
Spray the machine with non-stick spray. Fill the bases with the batter. Close lid and let bake for 6 minutes until golden brown. Remove and allow to cool. Dip or drizzle with glaze. These don’t keep well so only make as many as you will use.
(The glaze was a mixture of powdered sugar, milk and vanilla.)
