Salmon Patties With Dill Sauce

Adam and I both turn our noses up at salmon patties because they were  not a pleasant food experience whenever we were younger.  Neither of us liked them.  My boys, however, LOVE salmon and so we tried making salmon patties for them to see what they thought.  We were all pleasantly surprised!  I will definitely be making these again and my canned salmon was under $3.00 at Aldi’s and was a great quality.

1- 14.75 ounce canned salmon, drained and bones removed

2 Tbsp. butter

1 medium onion, shredded

1 tsp. minced garlic

1 cup Ritz cracker crumbs

2 eggs, beaten

1/4 cup parsley flakes

1 tsp. dry mustard

1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

1 Tbsp. lemon juice

Vegetable oil for frying patties



Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.  Add onion and garlic and cook until onions are tender.  In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and mix until well blended.  Shape into 6 patties.  Cook patties in a skillet filled with 1/4 inch hot vegetable oil until browned about 3 minutes on each side.  Place on a plate with a few paper towels to let the towels soak up any excess oil.


2 Tbsp. butter

4 tsp. flour

3/4 cup milk

1/4 tsp. salt

1 Tbsp. dill


Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.  Stir in flour to form a smooth paste.  Gradually stir in milk.  Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.  Cook for 2 minutes or until thickened.  Remove from heat and stir in salt and dill.  Serve with salmon patties.

    We just had this conversation at work the other day. I hated salmon patties when my mom made them. She always left the bones in, which I hated. I have an issue with textures of FOOD, haha. The girls at work leave the bones in theirs too. I’m glad to see you took them out. I will have to try them sometime.

      They were good and I will definitely make them again. The sauce is really good too!! We are like you, we don’t want the bones in either!
